Info for From Latin America to Paris - Works for Cello and Piano
Seit Februar 2016 ist Lionel Cottet Solocellist im Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks unter Chefdirigent Mariss Jansons. Auf "From Latin America to Paris" hat er zusammen mit dem Pianisten Jorge Viladoms Werke aus Frankreich und Südamerika aus dem ersten Drittel des 20. Jahrhunderts eingespielt, die vielfältige gemeinsame Bezüge aufweisen. So gibt es neben den Cellosonaten von Debussy und Manuel M. Ponce die berühmte "Elégie" von Gabriel Fauré, kombiniert mit "Triste" von Alberto Ginastera, "Der Schwan" von Camille Saint-Saëns ("Karneval der Tiere"), die "Méditation" von Jules Massenet aus der Oper "Thaïs" in einer speziellen Fassung für Cello und Klavier u. a. eingängige Stücke zu hören. Pianist Jorge Viladoms ist eine Mehrfachbegabung: Er schreibt Kurzgeschichten und Gedichte, die bereits mehrfach ausgezeichnet wurden. Außerdem hat er 2012 die "Crescendo con la Musica Foundation" in Mexiko gegründet, deren Ziel es ist, mittellosen mexikanischen Kindern den Zugang zur Musik zu ermöglichen.
