Biography Andrea Nannoni & Giovanna Prestia


Andrea Nannoni
Studied cello with P. Grossi at the Cherubini Conservatory in Florence. He further honed his craft with A. Navarra and A. Baldovino. He has won numerous competitions. In 1980 he was awarded the “David di Michelangelo” prize for his achievements in national and international performances. He has played with some of Italy’s finest orchestras. He has also played with artists of the calibre of U. Ughi, M. Tipo, B. Canino, P.N. Masi, G. Garbarino, F. Petracchi, P. Farulli, M. Campanella. He was a member of the Trio di Fiesole and of the Nuovo Quartetto, with whom he had an intensive concert schedule. He has recorded for Denon Nippon Columbia, Frequenz and Fonè. He is Department Chair of cello at the Cherubini Conservatory in Florence and teaches postgraduate courses and the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana courses at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. From 1988 to 2004 he was Assistant Professor of string quartet at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena.
