Ein Highlight auf dem Veröffentlichungsplan der Deutschen Grammophon im Strauss-Jubiläumsjahr 2014: Thomas Hampson singt Lieder von Richard Strauss. Der amerikanische Bariton wird für seine Interpretationen des deutschen Kunstlieds von Kritikern und Publikum gefeiert. Auf Notturno präsentiert er, am Klavier einfühlsam von Wolfram Rieger begleitet, eine Auswahl an Strauss-Liedern.
Neben den wohl bekannten und in Liederabenden oft präsentierten Liedern „Ruhe, meine Seele op.27 Nr. 1“, „Heimliche Aufforderung op.27 Nr. 3“, „Traum durch Dämmerung op. 29 Nr.1“ oder „Freundliche Vision op. 48 Nr.1“ darf Strauss‘ „Notturno op. 44 Nr.1“ nicht fehlen.
