Info for Closer To Home (Remastered)
Grand Funk's third studio album, 1970's „Closer To Home“, was the album that catapulted the band into the big time and placed it at the top of the hard rock heap. One of GFR's most consistent albums, the most recognizable song remains the title track, which deals with the nightmare of getting drafted into the then still raging Vietnam war. Add to it such other solid rocking ditties as 'Sin's a Good Man's Brother,' 'Nothing is the Same,' and 'Hooked on Love,' and you have arguably Grand Funk's finest album.
The title cut powered this record to number 6 in 1970! Includes 4 previously unreleased bonus tracks, „Mean Mistreater“ (Alternative Mix), „In Need“ (Live), „Heartbreaker“ (Live) & „Mean Mistreater“ (Live).
'Like the generation to which they belong, their first album cried out, 'This is me . . . this is what I see!' Their second grew as they grew and said, 'This is me . . . this is what I feel!' And now with this, their third, they join hands with their millions of Brothers and Sisters and say, 'This is me . . . this is where I am going!' They are three who belong to the New Culture setting forth on its final voyage through a dying world . . . searching to find a way to bring us all CLOSER TO HOME.' (Terry Knight, producer)
Mark Farner, vocals, guitar, keyboards
Mel Schacher, bass
Don Brewer, vocals, drums

Grand Funk Railroad (aka Grand Funk)
is an American rock band. The Grand Funk Railroad lineup was highly popular during the 1970s, having sold over 25 million records and selling out arenas worldwide and having been awarded four RIAA gold albums in 1970, the most for any American Group that year. The current Grand Funk Railroad lineup uses the nickname "The American Band", from their hit song "We're an American Band". A popular take on the band during their heyday was that the critics hated them, but audiences loved them. Contrary to the name, the band is not a real funk band; but rather an attempt to pun the name "Grand Trunk Railroad" as that railroad went through Flint; although some sources cite the band's "The Locomotion" cover song as a funk track.
