Info for Stravinsky: Complete Music for Solo Piano

From the Silver Age romanticism of the early Sonata in F sharp minor, through the Shrovetide peasant festivities of Petrushka and a clutch of Jazz Age miniatures to the neo-Bachian computations of the Sonata and Serenade in A, Stravinsky s ever-changing preoccupations can be traced through his music for piano, his own instrument. Oxana Shevchenko is minutely attuned to the specific character of each piece whether a simple character study for children or a glitteringly virtuosic tour de force and brings her Russian heritage and training to this most cosmopolitan, yet ultimately most Russian, of composers. Oxana s first recording for Delphian came hot on the heels of her success at the Scottish International Piano Competition in 2012. A Gramophone Editor s Choice , it was much lauded by critics universally. Her other competiton successes include First Prize at the International Premio Franz Liszt Competition, Italy (2015), First Prize and Gold Medal at the Chappell Medal competition at the Royal College of Music (2013) and First Prize at Sheepdrove Piano Competition, Newbury (2012), and Fifth Prize and the Chamber Music Prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition, Australia (2016).

is internationally recognised as a pianist of outstanding artistry, sensibility, and versatility.

She is equally in demand both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. In 2010 Oxana won the First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition.

“Shevchenko was next with Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto. She has been, frankly, gobsmacking since the start, and was absolutely consistent in her delivery of the Prokofiev: total power, complete clarity of articulation and a phenomenal level of musicianship that is already world class.” ~ The Herald Right after her triumph Oxana worked with Delphian Records on her debut recording, released in 2011, which includes works by Shostakovich, Mozart, Liszt, and Ravel.

“This is the most exciting debut disc to come my way for some time... I look forward eagerly to her future releases” ~ Gramophone (Editor’s Choice).
