Anlässlich des 40. Jahrestags seines Sieges bei einem Gesangswettbewerb als Mitglied eines Chores aus seiner Heimatstadt Modena im Jahr 1955 löst Luciano Pavarotti ein lang gehegtes Versprechen ein und kehrt in die kleine Stadt in Nordwales zurück, um beim Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 1995 ein ganz besonderes Galakonzert zu geben.
An diesem Abend wird Pavarotti begleitet vom BBC Philharmonic Orchestra unter der Leitung von Leone Magiera, dem modernen Corale Gioachino Rossini aus Modena unter der Leitung von Paolo Rossini und, zum Finale, der japanischen Sopranistin Atzuko Kawahara. Das Programm umfasst beliebte Opernarien und -chöre, neapolitanische Lieder, eine Eigenkomposition von Pavarotti, Orchestereinleitungen und Zwischenspiele sowie ein ganz besonderes Duett zum Finale.
