Louis Vierne ist vor allem als brillanter Organist und als Komponist für die Orgel bekannt. Doch unter seinen um die 70 Kompositionen befindet sich auch Kammermusik, so ein Streichquartett, ein Klavierquintett und manches mehr. Die Cellistin Camille Seghers und der Pianist Alexis Thibaut de Maisières präsentieren die drei Werke für ihre beiden Instrumente. Viernes frühe Stücke zeigen Einflüsse von Franck und Fauré, spätere verweisen auf Debussy und Ravel. Dabei war der Einfluss nicht einseitig. Elemente aus Viernes Cellosonate sind bei Ravel und auch bei Fauré zu finden.
