Das zweite Studioalbum der Scorpions, FLY TO THE RAINBOW, wurde am 01. November 1974 veröffentlicht und ist das erste Album, das von den Mitgliedern der Band selbst produziert wurde. Das Album entstand kurze Zeitnach ihrer LONESOME CROW Tour, nach welcher Michael Schenker die Band verließ und durch Uli Jon Rothersetzt wurde. Stilistisch weichte FLY TO THE RAINBOW stark von ihrem Debütalbum LONESOME CROW ab und bewegte sich in eine eher experimentelle Richtung, die jedoch auch damals schon starke Hard-Rock Einflüsse aufwiesund bereits erahnen ließ, wohin sich die Band später begeben sollte. Neben Leadsänger Klaus Meine sindauf dem Album außerdem die Stimmen von Rudolf Schenker („They Need a Million“) und Uli Jon Roth („Drifting Sun“)zu hören. Bis heute hat sich das Album weltweit mehr als eine Million Mal verkauft. FLY TO THE RAINBOW wurde mit besonderem Fingerspitzengefühl von den originalen Tapes remastered.
