Yellow Umbrella
is a reggae and ska band founded in Dresden in 1994. Their musical style is a mixture of reggae, ska, rocksteady and dub with influences from klezmer, Eastern European and Arabic music. The band has released nine albums, a single, an EP and a DVD to date and has toured eight European countries. Their children's programme "Der Reggaehase Boooo" was performed live on a whim every Sunday after the annual Dresden Reggae Festival, was enthusiastically received by young and old reggae fans and is the basis for the book of the same name. The musicians of Yellow Umbrella live with twelve children and a cat in Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin and Reims (France).
