Biographie Barbra Lica

Barbra Lica
Juno-nominated artist Barbra Lica is a fast-rising star in the Canadian Jazz scene. In the short period of time since her 2012 debut album release (That’s What I Do), she has been selected as one of Canada’s Top 5 Jazz singers by CBC host Tim Tamashiro, as well as one of 5 up and coming jazz artists in Toronto by blogTO. That’s What I Do not only opened at #1 on iTunes Canada’s jazz chart but enjoyed wide release in Japan via Universal Music Japan. Barbra's first U.S. performance in Nov. 2013 also proved highly memorable. Competing in the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Voice Competition, Barbra placed first runner up, earning the approval of celebrity judges Al Jarreau, Gretchen Parlato, and Janice Siegel.

Barbra Lica's 2017 summer/fall tour will be in promotion of her new JUNO-nominated album, “I’m Still Learning”. It was co-produced by Juno-award winning, platinum album-producing guitarist James Bryan and accomplished pop/jazz bassist Marc Rogers (Joe Lovano, Nikki Yanofsky, Norah Jones). It features Lou Pomanti (Anne Murray, Michael Bublé) on keyboards and Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy, Michael Brecker) on percussion. It also introduces Barbra’s touring band of up-and-coming Jazz musicians from across Canada who will be joining Barbra on the road. Barbra’s versatility as a performer continues to grow along with her fanbase. "Barbra Lica is a dazzling performer who has talent to burn and vocals that will knock you over." - Ross Porter (CEO & President, JAZZ.FM91)
