Sandra & Tony Alessi
Biographie Sandra & Tony Alessi
Throughout the history of music, there have been a number of successful father and daughter vocal pairings; just think of Frank & Nancy Sinatra, and Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole, for instance.
This tradition is now continued by the unique Italian duo, Sandra & Tony Alessi.
Their story begins on the isle of Sicily, where father Tony was born. Although his family decided to emigrate to Belgium in the early 1960’s, the young Tony was surrounded daily by the music from his native country. The vocal performances of the legendary Italian tenors such as Enrico Caruso, Beniamino Gigli, and Mario Lanza left a lasting impression on Tony during his formative years. Inspired by the enormous emotional and lyrical expression of their voices, and the overwhelming beauty of the Italian musical compositions, he took up singing and composing. His natural talent did not go unnoticed, and he emerged as an often-booked singer. In 1977, he was blessed with a daughter, Sandra.
Sandra grew up with her father’s music, but also felt strongly drawn toward contemporary pop.
Her musical upbringing left her with a strong sense of her traditional Italian background, but
with a feel for present-day music as well. This led her to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a singer herself. When Sandra was brought onto the stage by her proud father during one of his shows to accompany him in a duet, the audience reacted with such enthusiasm that Tony and Sandra decided to carry on as a duo. In retrospect, this seems to have been the right decision, as the two have gone on to win the prestigious Belgian TV talent show 'Pour la Gloire' in 1998 with the title 'Vivo per Lei.' This essentially signaled the start of father and daughter Alessi's professional career and the release of their debut album 'l' Amore e Musica' followed shortly thereafter.
During the past year, Sandra and Tony have worked on preparing and recording their new album 'Eterno” in Galaxy Studios, Belgium.
