The Sebastian Gahler Trio stands for modern jazz. The band leader writes the pieces himself. Singable, catchy melodies hover over all the titles and almost make you forget the complex harmonies and very varied, sometimes tricky rhythms. Sometimes lyrical, sometimes melancholic, always outshone by Gahler's unmistakable piano sound. With "Down the street", the trio released its third album in 2016. Gahler was able to secure one of the most renowned tenor saxophonists in Europe as a guest: Wolfgang Engstfeld. The result is a fascinatingly sensitive dialogue between the generations.
