Here is a short contemporary piece written for theremin and continuum by Canadian composer Aleks Schürmer: "Paris en feu". Deconstructing a melody by Michel Legrand, this composition can evoke a modern-day Satie seeing his city with yellow shirts, cathedrals and fire... Or whatever stimulates your imagination (a note from the composer explains that the piece is intended as "a meditation on the systems of oppression we participate in and our unwillingness to move past them" but I don't understand what it means)
Combining the theremin and the continuum is quite a challenge, holding long harmonies with an uncertain intonation reinforces the eerie atmosphere of the piece...
I patched the continuum to have a sound tasting somehow like strings, brass ensemble or multiple theremin togethers.
