British musician and producer Charlie Beale will release his debut studio album, Steady Rolling, on April 17, 2026. The album explores new sonic frontiers by combining classic blues with contemporary electronic production.

Beale, 33, was born in London and currently lives in Manchester. He began playing guitar in his teens, influenced by artists like Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, which later led him to discover the roots of the blues with historical figures such as Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters.

His approach to the genre took shape during his university years, when he studied music and production. It was then that he began experimenting with mixing traditional sounds and electronic tools. “It just happened while I was studying music at university. I was working in production and I combined it with the blues I was listening to at the time,” the artist explains.

The album clearly sounds to the roots of the blues, but without sacrificing modern production. “Roots blues is timeless, and we will never forget the great masters,” the musician states. “But electronic music is out there and it has many styles. A modern production combined with the blues can sound incredible.”

For Beale, the blues remains one of the fundamental pillars of contemporary music. “Many people don’t fully understand the blues, but when you do… it’s better than anything else. It’s the foundation of modern music.”

Among the album’s tracks, the artist highlights “Take It as It Comes” as one of the songs that best represents the direction he wants to take in the future. “It’s a really good track and marks the path I want to take from now on,” he says.

The release of Steady Rolling also represents a new step in his musical evolution after several years of releasing singles and EPs. A process that the artist himself sees as part of a constant search in the studio. “I’m always trying to improve my production. I feel like I still have a lot to learn.”

Known for landmark Freshly Squeezed releases including Breakin’ Down Blues, Deja Booze and Bluestronic, Beale has helped shape a sound that sits between delta blues, funk, swing and electronic grit — loose but funky, electronic yet deeply soulful.

Over many years Charlie has evolved his sound to the point where he is poised to release his debut album 'Steady Rolling'.

Beale’s fiery blend of vintage funk, swing, jazz and delta blues, all given a 21st Century shot in the arm, first gained him recognition with releases such as BREAKIN’ DOWN BLUES EP (2015) contributing to the emergence of an Electro Blues scene which was much imitated worldwide. Spotify launched their own Bluestronica playlist and many like-minded artists appeared at the club nights and on compilation albums run by the label in both their hometown of Brighton and around the UK Festival circuit.

The DEJA BOOZE EP (2015) followed with further spots on the ELECTRO BLUES compilations from Freshly Squeezed. Charlie then intermittently released a series of bootlegs and various funk-based records while travelling the world.

In 2024 he returned to Freshly Squeezed with a new country infused EP that gave a further twist to the tale. In 2025 he released Bluestronic, continuing to evolve his sound, and taking inspiration from the old blues masters.

Over a decade since his debut EP, Charlie is now poised to release his debut album on Freshly Squeezed. STEADY ROLLING is an amalgamation of everything we love about Charlie’s music, and most definitely worth the wait. The first single of the campaign WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN is a slow-burner built on dusty samples, vocal chants and a swaggering mid-tempo groove and is out now, to be followed by the full album on April 17th.
