Lieblingstenor: Für den legendären englischen Tenor John Beard (ca.1715-1791) komponierte Händel einige seiner wunderbarsten Tenorpartien, etwa die Titelrollen in Samson, Judas Maccabäus und Jephtha. Allan Clayton stellt hier einige der schönsten Partien, die Beard in seiner langen Karriere gesungen hat, vor und berücksichtigt dabei sowohl Arien von Händel als auch von dessen Zeitgenossen Boyce, Arne und Smith.
