Der inzwischen dritte Streich aus Orange County, Kalifornien, ist ein gutes Genre-Album. „Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising“ von Dayseeker steht für einwandfreies Handwerk.
Aber ist es mehr? Nein. Zwar beherrscht der Fünfer die stilistischen Trademarks im Schlaf, doch zu oft fallen deren Anspielstationen auf Genre-Standards zurück. Klares Highlight ist der Auftakt mit dem zweiten Song „Vultures“. Emotionsgeladen verweben Dayseeker ins Ohr gehende Melodien mit djentigen Gitarren und packenden Klargesang mit wütendem Geschrei.
Dank „Waking Is Rising“ kommt das Album immerhin zu einem ähnlich starken Ende, wie „Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising“ begonnen hat. Dazwischen plätschert das Ganze leider zu hörfreundlich vor sich hin. Aber eben, das technische Können der Musiker steht ausser Frage, doch so richtig zünden will der angefachte Docht eben nur bei zwei Songs.
