Nathan Surquin

Biographie Nathan Surquin

The Nathan Surquin Quartet
is a contemporary jazz group comprised of four musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds: Nathan Surquin (Belgium) on trombone, Wajdi Riahi (Tunisia) on piano, Federico Stocchi (Italy) on double bass, and Daniel Jonkers (Netherlands) on drums.

Their music, both sensitive and dynamic, highlights the dialogues between cultures, shared emotions, and the depth of human encounters. The quartet's first album, entitled "Ambre," is an ode to these encounters: those that occur during a journey or over coffee, between people of different origins; the meeting of two kindred spirits, or that between a father and his daughter. The album translates these fragments of life, these intimate exchanges that nourish existence, into sound.

The richness of the project lies in the cultural diversity of its members. Each brings their personal influences, musical roots, and unique musical language. Together, they create a sound that is coherent, deep, and unique. It is this natural alchemy, born from the fusion of cultures, backgrounds, and sensibilities, that gives Ambre her unique voice.
