Info for Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont: Plays Bach
Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont plays Bach is the first ZeD Classics release of the young French pianist, who sees it as a return to the roots of modern keyboard music. The album features some of the most celebrated keyboard works, the toccata in E minor, the first partita in B-flat Major and the sixth partita in E minor. “This album is the result of a long exploration of Bach works on a modern piano.” says pianist Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont. “Although I’ve played them for a long time, I’ve never played these pieces in public. In fact, I’ve never played any of Bach’s music in public. Releasing this album is like inviting the listener in my secret garden, in my inner musical life.”
Recorded at the legendary Flagey studio 4 in Brussels with producer Romain Zémiri, Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont plays Bach is the first ZeD Classics release of the young French pianist, who sees it as a return to the roots of modern keyboard music.
This album also introduces a new production workflow. Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont, instead of the producer, took the lead for the creative and technical aspects of the editing process. If the pianist has always been actively involved in this phase of studio work, it's the first time Dablemont chooses the takes and splices them together for a whole album. “I think edits shouldn't be left to someone other than the artist himself”, declared pianist Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont. “It was very interesting for me to take the time to build this album from scratch by myself and it is an exceptional way to cast a new light on works you play every day.”
Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont, piano
Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont
has built a reputation as an idiosyncratic performer widely appreciated for his musical intelligence, sensitive interpretations and innovative ideas. His multifaceted musical personality and insatiable curiosity have led him in exciting new directions, going beyond the beaten paths of the usual conformist-thinking musicians and giving him a distinctive view on the works he interprets.
Since his debut in 1996, Dablemont performs regularly as a soloist on many prestigious stages throughout Europe. His repertoire spans from Bach to Boulez, with particular emphasis on Beethoven, Ravel and Russian repertoire such as Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Medtner.
Born in Paris in 1979, he enjoyed a privileged and sheltered childhood in a non-musical family. His musical gifts became apparent early on, and though his parents never pushed him, he quickly became serious about piano and began his education under Véronique Menuet-Stibbe. He then worked under Marc Lys, Françoise Thinat at the Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot and Hugues Leclère at the Conservatoire Darius Milhaud in Paris. He completed his studies at the Prague Conservatory studying with František Maxián. Dablemont currently lives in Brussels, Belgium.
