Info for Haydn: Complete Symphonies, Vol. 27
For those pieces still missing from the complete recording, the Heidelberger Sinfoniker have been proceeding since Volume 25 in chronological order, to better chart the development of Joseph Haydn the composer. We are thus in the midst of a young, wild Haydn, a Sturm und Drang Haydn. “Heidelberg Haydn is a paradigm of dynamism, freshness, wildness, humour and constant surprise. I am glad we are continuing the journey, completing the cycle. My musical encounters with the Heidelberger Sinfoniker have always been journeys into happiness. Idealism, love of music and technical perfection join forces here with the will to create something really special. Which is exactly right for the symphonic world of Joseph Haydn. I look towards the future in eager anticipation!” (Johannes Klumpp)
Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra
Johannes Klumpp, conductor
Johannes Klumpp
is Principal Conductor of the Folkwang Kammerorchester Essen. Here, as well as in numerous international guest appearances, he has the opportunity to give free rein to his love of Mozart. With new concert formats, he has succeeded in attracting wider attention to “his” orchestra. His gift of audience communication brings new audiences to classical music.
The Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra
made its debut on 1 January 1994 with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. It is one of the few German symphony orchestras made up entirely of young freelance musicians. Tours through many European countries and South America have established its reputation as one of the leading „period“ orchestras before the public at present.
Its CD recordings have received rapturous acclaim - and a whole string of awards - from music critics all over the world. For example, the recording of Beethoven’s Fourth and Sixth Symphonies was nominated for the Cannes Classical Award 2003, the most significant classical music award alongside the „Grammy.“
World-famous soloists like Rudolf Buchbinder, Nelson Freire, Bernd Glemser, Cyprien Katsaris, and Thomas Zehetmair appear regularly with the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra.
