Info for Damien Prud'homme Medium Ensemble - Live

The alchemical process that gave shape to the Médium Ensemble has been brewing for years in the mind of Damien Prud'homme and the accomplices he has brought together this evening. The nine musicians have been playing together regularly, notably in the bands of the saxophonist from Metz: his trio Trilogiqu3, his Quartet, the Canal de l'Est 5tet or Mister Oz's big band...

Here they are, gathered together in a Dream Team in Nonet: a formula that allows them to combine the carefully crafted writing that is essential to a big-bang with the freedom of improvisation of smaller ensembles. I know the qualities and sensitivities of each musician well, I composed for them and made sure they all had their place and their space," explains Damien Prud homme. To be so close to the musicians and to have time to write and experiment with them is a dream and a luxury".

Indeed, Nonet's compositions are the fruit of a long maturation. After a first meeting in 2014 at the Marly Jazz festival, the Médium Ensemble was born in its current form at the Jazzpote festival in 2017. Several phases of writing, arranging and concert attempts (Nancy Jazz Pulsation for example) will give birth to a refined repertoire. This one, at the confluence of Damien Prud'homme's experiences, is a "personal invented folklore" letting you hear a music where melody is the fuel of each composition; "almost like a song" slips the man from Metz... Drawing from the roots of jazz, the love of be-bop and world sounds, with even a hint of pop spirit, the music of the Médium Ensemble resounds like the result of a journey under the sign of feeling and friendship: the magic ingredients for an excellent moment of jazz...
