Info for The Jazz Nights

Thomas Dutronc returns with "Jazz Nights", a new live project dedicated to the great jazz standards—from Chet Baker to Django Reinhardt—accompanied by virtuoso musicians for an evening filled with swing, improvisation, and elegance.

Associated with Gypsy jazz since his debut album in 2007, Thomas Dutronc is just as fond of American swing standards—whether they are adaptations of French songs (which he explored in a duo format on the album *Frenchy*) or authentic U.S. originals. With *The Jazz Nights*, the guitarist indulges his own passion—and delights ours—by covering great classics, some with vocals ("Get Along Without You Very Well," "The Shadow of Your Smile," "Let’s Get Lost"...) and others as instrumentals ("Summertime," "Here’s That Rainy Day"...). Joining him are his long-time musical partners: Eric Legnini (piano and arrangements), Rocky Gresset (guitar), Franck Agulhon (drums), and Thomas Bramerie (double bass). They are joined by Stéphane Belmondo on trumpet, along with a guitar legend—83-year-old Philip Catherine—as a guest of honor.

"The Jazz Nights" is a collection of very cool musical themes. You come across as an irresistible crooner on the record.

Thomas Dutronc
Son of French icons Jacques Dutronc and Françoise Hardy, Thomas Dutronc fell in love with Gypsy jazz music during his teenage years, starting with Django Reinhardt's works. Gifted with impressive learning capacities, he began studying Gypsy guitar at the age of 18 and has since collaborated with a wide range of artists, from the jazz community with the likes of Bireli Lagrene but also including his father, mother, and Henri Salvador from the pop world. In 2007 he released his own LP of songs penned with both wit and humor, displaying a gentle voice (very close to his father's) and his many talents as both a songwriter and guitarist, achieving a refreshing blend that quickly found an audience and earned strong record sales that same year. In 2009, Dutronc won the Victoires de la Musique for original song of the year with "Comme un Manouche Sans Guitare" before releasing his second album, Demain!, in 2011. (Olivier Duboc, AMG)
