Info for Richter und Henker

"New German Hardness pioneers OOMPH! are back with their 14th studio album Richter und Henker! With their previous album and Napalm Records debut Ritual (2019), they reached No. 1 in the Official German Album Charts for the first time after playing countless major national and international tours, as well as festival shows, in their 30-year success story. OOMPH!'s biggest hit to date, "Augen Auf!" (2004), is a timeless classic and right in the ears of every rock fan.

Richter und Henker heralds a new era with the first line-up change in the band's history, which began in 1989: CR4P and FLUX are now on stage with the new singer DER SCHULZ. The new studio album will be released on 8 September 2023 and, as usual, was produced and recorded by the band themselves.

Richter und Henker is a clear statement that OOMPH! are back stronger than ever in a new formation and continue to follow their path straightforwardly - so the Lower Saxons present themselves musically at the highest level and lyrically as usual opinionated, biting and critical. With a strong industrial dose, the album opener ""Wem Die Stunde Schlägt"" directly sets a sign (Dead, but still standing - Damn, we're still alive!). The title track ""Richter und Henker"" captures the listener with the perfect symbiosis of haunting guitar hooks and vocals, while an all-out attack against unreflective and ignorant social movements is launched. New Wave influences can be found in the grooving anti-war anthem ""Nur Ein Mensch"" - a future hit and a strong sign against warmongering and empty slogans pushing hate and war. None other than genre idol Joachim Witt supports the band on "Wut".

In 34 years, OOMPH! have established themselves as one of Germany's most influential bands, inspiring countless artists, including genre giants Rammstein. With Richter und Henker, the pioneers of Neue Deutsche Härte prove that they are still enthroned at the top of the genre even after the first line-up change of their career."

OOMPH!

OOMPH!
In 1989 Dero, Flux and Cr4p founded the band Oomph! Wherefrom does that name come? The musicians read this special word in an old English dictionary and it means something like “extraordinary”, “full of energy” or “pep”.

And it fits! That´s not only our opinion – since the foundation the band has reached a lot: Many singles and albums have been released and Oomph! has won awards like “The golden disc” in Germany and Austria for the single “Augen auf” or the award for “The Best Band” from “1 Live Krone 2004”. In 2007 Oomph! and Marta Jandová (singer of our endorser “Die Happy“) were the winners of the 3rd “Bundesvision Song Contest”.

With their lyrics the band demonstrates that they give thoughts to a lot of political and socio-critical things and that they also like to criticize. According to their own statements they don´t hesitate to hold a mirror up to the society. So they want to make people think. But due to this they cause attention and also some scandals. But lots of hits and great chart positions prove that much people love Oomph! and of course their music.

Since the beginning of 2012, the band has been one of König & Meyer’s endorsers and was the star guest for an autograph session at our booth at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt.

In the same year, the band’s new album “Des Wahnsinns fette Beute” was released, with which they started their eponymous tour. Since then Oomph! went to some festivals every year and of course they played their own concerts.

The year 2015: OOMPH! celebrated their 25th birthday! Of course there was an anniversary album with the matching title “XXV”. 14 new songs full of dark poetry, criticism of society and religion – but also words of salvation, love and death. So besides hard metal songs there are also lots of emotional tracks. Dero: “Never before we have been so close to our own spiritual abyss”. Well it really seemed to be the most personal album of their carrer. Success proved them right – Congratulation! Since the release of the new album OOMPH! has been touring all over the world: Germay, Russia, Belgium, France, Spain, Mexico…

The current album “Ritual” was released at the beginning of 2019 and for the first time an Oomph! album entered the German album charts directly at number 1 – and stayed there for 8 weeks.

After the extensive European tour in March, the band even went to Russia and the ancient Ukraine. In summer Oomph! announced an extension of the Ritual Tour with new dates in Germany.

In early 2020 the band received the “Silver YouTube Creator Award” for 100.000 subscribers on their YouTube channel. Congratulations!

In October 2021 the band announced this surprising and sad news: “Since September 30, 2021, ‘Dero’ is no longer part of the band Oomph! All three of us regret that we have not managed to keep the band in this constellation despite our best efforts. We have mutually agreed that ‘Flux’ and ‘Cr4p’ will continue to lead the band Oomph! and wish each other all the best for the future!”

In June 2023 there was finally the announcement that “Der Schulz”, singer of the band Unzucht, now completes the trio of Oomph!. “Der Schulz” is already fully involved in the production of the new album, which is scheduled for release in September 2023.

This album contains no booklet.
