Info for Time Vibes (EP)
The Marco Pacassoni Trio presents TIME VIBES – the new video from the album LIFE is now available. Marco Pacassoni on vibraphone and marimba, alongside John Patitucci on bass and Antonio Sanchez on drums, have recorded a fantastic album entitled LIFE.
Marco Pacassoni explains: “LIFE is the dream of a life lived to the full every day. Like that of every individual, but especially that of every musician. I was born in Fano, a small town known for its carnival and as the ‘City of Happiness’. In my case, the stroke of luck was that Fano has hosted a major jazz festival for almost thirty years, and even as a child I had the chance to hear the world’s best musicians right on my doorstep. I probably also heard historic concerts that I can no longer remember, but what is certain is that this music created a different atmosphere for everyone, even if initially only for a few days a year. It was almost inevitable that, as soon as I could, I would go to them to learn and understand. At Berklee College of Music in Boston, I understood what it means to engage with others and learn from them. There, my microcosm shattered to make way for a horizon consisting of multiculturalism and inevitable influences.”
John Patitucci & Antonio Sanchez need no introduction. They have each written the history of the bass and the drums. Patitucci in particular, alongside Pastorius in terms of technique and interpretation, is certainly one of the world’s foremost bassists.
The virtuosity contained in the pieces is controlled and deliberate, more like butterflies in a meadow than the usual frantic flies trapped in a room. John and Antonio have tiptoed their way into Marco’s poetics, with a tenderness and respect for the compositions that only great musicians can muster. Together, they have created something beyond the score; they have ‘played’ and ‘sung’ – a perfect synthesis of the dual meaning of the verb ‘suonare’ in some languages. John’s elegant and timeless style and Antonio’s acrobatic and evocative drumming have embraced Marco’s playing.
