Info for MOVIE
With MOVIE, French pianist Sofiane Pamart releases his fourth solo album, continuing his internationally acclaimed series following PLANET, LETTER and NOCHE. The album is conceived as a standalone, cinematic work and is intended as a “film” set to music by the artist himself.
The release comprises 20 compositions that stylistically span modern classical, neo-classical and film music. For the production, Pamart collaborated with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (over 70 musicians) and a 24-strong choir, both established in the field of international film music productions.
In addition, 14 international guest artists feature on the album. The compositions were written in California, with recordings taking place in several studios, including Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London and Prague.
MOVIE is considered the most extensive and ambitious project to date in Sofiane Pamart’s discography and expands his sound to include orchestral and choral elements.
My whole life looks like a film to me today. Childhood dreams, naive and without limits. The trials. The encounters. The ascent. Nights in Los Angeles, facing the sleeping city. Sessions in Prague with the Opera Choir. The seventy orchestral musicians who gave my melodies a scale I had only dreamed of. Everything comes together in these twenty tracks.
The cover is a childhood photograph. It was taken by my father, with one of his film cameras. Those who read my last letter will understand. This image comes from his albums, from that closet where he patiently stored what life was going to erase. Today, that photo becomes the cover of the most ambitious album so far of my career.
This album was composed in Los Angeles, recorded across six cities and eight studios. The mix was done by Shinji Hashimoto and Renaud Héritier. The mastering was entrusted to Matt Colton, Grammy Award winner, at Metropolis Studios in London. Two years of work. From the first note played at sunrise in California, to the last session at the Rudolfinum in Prague.
Sofiane Pamart, piano
Sofiane Pamart
French pianist Sofiane Pamart, a.k.a. ‘Piano King,’ has made a name for himself by bridging the traditionalist western classical world and the always-innovating realm of hip-hop. Pamart’s collaborations with rappers like Koba LaD, Vald, Joey Starr, and more have helped piano music shed its staid facade and become more accessible to new listeners. Pamart delivers performances that are visually and technically stunning, and his film-inspired aesthetic has led to partnerships with fashion houses like Yves Saint Laurent and Dior Hommes. A classically-trained pianist with a rapper’s flair for storytelling, Pamart aims to bring people together through the emotional vibrancy of his piano compositions. For his only East Coast tour stop, Sofiane Pamart will take piano music into the future with a mix of western classical works and his own hip-hop-classical fusions.
Sofiane Pamart is one of the top 10 most streamed Classical Music artists in the world in 2022.
Used to prestigious stages, after having been propelled to headline the Montreux Jazz Festival 2021, filling major concert venues in the Olympia, the Trianon, the Louvre Museum, the Ancienne Belgique and his two dates at the Salle Pleyel, he announces an iconic solo concert in the Parisian stadium Accor Arena Bercy on November 17, 2022.
His musical universe is halfway between great film music and adventure stories.
His work is both dark and poetic, embodying an emotional accuracy that allows him to reach a very wide audience; a great work that is accessible to all.
