Info for Rain Money Dogs

Miynt has always made music rooted in tie-dyed psychedelia. The lead up to her album Rain Money Dogs brings her sound into the 21st century, if only just.

The relaxed pacing of the music is matched by the release schedule — she took two years to prepare her 2022 debut album Lonely Beach, and Rain Money Dogs is coming more than three years after that one. Her sound has evolved in the interim — Lonely Beach sounded like it could have been released in the early 70s. It leans hard into groovy, organic psychedelia, with long improvised interludes throughout, and a surprise disco interlude on “Of the Sun”.

Going all the way back to her debut EP No. 1 in 2016, Miynt’s music has felt disconnected from time — rooted in the late 60s and early 70s, but drawing in elements from other eras. Her releases of the last few years lead me to think Rain Money Dogs will lean more contemporary. So far it sounds like a trip worth taking.

Hailing from Stockholm, singer-songwriter Miynt unveils brand new AA-side single ‘Give me palm trees and inner peace/Lovesong’. Channelling irresistible guitar-driven grunge, this double sided single will make you want to light up a cigarette and drool over Kurt Cobain. Showcasing her observational and storytelling ability, Miynt address the ever consistent digital undertone in modern relationships. In her words, these are ‘songs about the internet’. Captivating listeners from her debut 2016 project Ep no.1, to her most recent 2019 EP Stay on Your Mind, she’s received consistent recognition from outlets such as The Fader, Stereogum, Refinery29, DIY, i-D, Zane Low/Beats 1 and many more. Assembling a four-piece band for The Miynt Project and self producing most of her material (including the stop motion video for palm trees), she has proven herself to be hands on, capable of bringing a slick and unique twist to anything and everything she touches.
