Info for Piano
Renowned DJ and producer Armin van Buuren releases his first-ever acoustic project, the Armin van Buuren "Piano" album.
Far from abandoning his trance roots, the Armin van Buuren Piano album highlights the classical influences that have long shaped his music. It reveals how melody, harmony, and storytelling have guided his career for over two decades.
When Armin van Buuren walked onstage at Apple’s Leidseplein Store during Amsterdam Dance Event 2025, fans expected euphoric synths and soaring drops. Instead, they heard a piano. Moments later he announced something few imagined: his first-ever acoustic album, titled Piano.
After more than two decades at the forefront of electronic music, the five-time World’s No. 1 DJ is trading decks for keys. The Armin van Buuren Piano album marks a bold creative pivot — a project born not from spectacle but from silence, reflection, and emotion.
“When life got tough, I found comfort behind the piano. Just me, the keys, and silence. These pieces became the most honest music I’ve ever made - no beats, no drops, just emotion.” (Armin van Buuren)
Each composition on the Armin van Buuren Piano album is inspired by emotion and memory — from his family to his early years learning the piano. Working closely with composer Geronimo Snijtsheuvel, Armin crafted pieces that reflect pure emotion without electronic beats.
Armin’s career has always balanced technology and emotion. Since Blue Fear (1997) and his iconic A State of Trance shows, he’s chased that perfect union of melody and energy. Yet beneath every synth line lay a pianist’s sensibility — a love for harmony shaped by his father’s upright piano and a home filled with classical music.
Over the past decade, that background became more than nostalgia. Seeking both creative renewal and mental clarity, Armin began formal piano study under Dutch composer Geronimo Snijtsheuvel. What started as practice soon turned into composition.
“Creating melodies behind the piano has always been the foundation of my music. After decades of trance and festivals, I longed for music without pressure — just fingers on keys.” (Armin van Buuren)
