Info for Songs to Comfort
Danish singer Marie Mørck released her second album entitled Songs for Comfort. The themes are love, heartbreak, life, and everything in between.
The band is remarkable. The music is Jazz. The album has a lovely old-fashioned beat that gives it a nostalgic feel. The jazzy beat parallels the Jazz music from the 30s and 40s and songs heard in musicals from old movie classics. The rhythm has a calming effect. The record also has an Aretha Franklin vibe.
Marie Mørck is one of the most promising vocal jazz talents in Denmark at the moment. Despite her young age, she impresses every listener, leaving a mark with her soft yet dark voice. While she shows her deep-rooted love of traditional jazz, scatting her heart away, it does not keep her from pushing the music in her own modern direction.
Marie Mørck was nominated for a DMA Jazz in 2020 in the category 'Vocal Jazz Release of the Year' for her debut album 'Fooling Around', and with her new album she once again shows her irresistible talent. She has also just been selected to be part of an export promotion for Danish jazz at Europe's largest jazz fair in Germany in April 2023. Marie is truly a talent with a promising career ahead of her.
Denmark's Radio P8 Jazz has also shown their enthusiasm for Marie Mørck since her debut and has played her songs frequently on the radio.
As with her debut, the new album consists primarily of Marie's own original compositions, exploring the classic sound of jazz while maintaining her experimental and imaginative approach to songwriting. The songs for the album were created on the island of Bornholm, where she found a scenic oasis of calm and contemplation. The result is an album full of authentic songs that will take the listener on a journey through different moods and emotions. As a singer and composer, she finds inspiration in great personalities such as Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell and Björk.
"I am very excited to present 'Songs to Comfort'", says Marie Mørck. "I have worked hard to create an album that can touch and connect people across different preferences, backgrounds and experiences.

Marie Mørck continues her musical journey on her second album, “Songs to Comfort” (2023), which was selected as "Album of the Week" on Danish National Jazz Radio P8.
