Info for The Wagner Project
"The Wagner Project" was recorded on the occasion of KammerMusikKöln's anniversary concert "10+1" under the motto Richard Wagner. With this album, the ensemble, consisting of 15 instrumentalists and soprano soloist Kathrin Zukowski, presents arrangements for chamber music ensemble of several of the composer's rarities. It includes the world premiere of Wagner's extremely rarely performed Französische Lieder in an arrangement commissioned from Simone Fontanelli, as well as the second public performance of Fontanelli's arrangement of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder, another KammerMusikKöln commission. In addition, Wagner's Siegfried Idyll will be presented in the composer's own chamber music arrangement, a particularly enjoyable piece for small ensemble.
