Info for I Is Another
On the heels of post-rock and revered outfits Rival Schools and Far comes a breath of fresh air in the form of I IS ANOTHER – the new brainchild of Jonah Matranga and Ian Love. The two seasoned musicians are anything but strangers to the innovation of sounds, having gotten their hands dirty in a number of successful projects during the past two decades, including both Far and Rival Schools followed by the fan favorites Burn, Gratitude, and New End Original, to name a few. I is Another emerges as an artistic entity both connected to these previous projects yet also a stand-alone effort in that it brings something entirely new to listeners’ ears. The band’s debut eponymous release combines distinct gritty shades of Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Cocteau Twins with the vocal intensity of Sunny Day Real Estate and Braid.
Jonah Matranga and Ian Love, the two rock n’ roll veterans behind the new project I Is Another, sort of fell into excellence, as the project wasn't an extensively thought out plan. Their history in the studio makes for a smooth writing experience each time they find the opportunity to collaborate. 'Every time, including in I Is Another, it just feels really balanced,' explains Matranga. 'This time around, we just traded ideas for months, then when I was in New York to play, I did a couple of rough vocal tracks. Everything just kept sounding good, so we kept following it.'
“Honestly, we didn’t make this record for any other reason than the love of making records. Ian had some tunes that he could hear my voice on, so he sent them over. We really took our time, just tried to make something worth listening to.” (Jonah Matranga)

(born Jonah Sonz Matranga, August 11, 1969, Brookline, Massachusetts) is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has released a variety of solo material under his own name and onelinedrawing, and has previously been part of the bands Far and New End Original (an anagram of "onelinedrawing") and Gratitude. He now continues to work and tour under his own name as a solo artist.
Ian Love
I’ve played in bands for the past 20 years; releasing two records with Rival Schools on two major labels (Island/Def Jam & Atlantic), as well as records on indie labels (self-titled solo record & Cardia), all to critical acclaim. I have toured Europe, Japan, Australia and the US many times, playing some of the biggest festivals including Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds (4 times), Glastonbury, Download, Rock AM Ring and Park, Summer-Sonic (Japan), and Sound-Waves (Australia), as well as many others. Over the years, I’ve also owned and operated a full Pro-Tools recording studio where I have produced, engineered, mixed and remixed records for many bands and artists.
