Baroque Neapolitan virtuoso concertos and graceful arias full of invention, contrast, temperament and charm, collaged into a sonic-narrative cityscape of the famous musical centre.

Storie di Napoli is la festa musicale's third album for audite, presenting an innovative approach towards the varied and expressive Neapolitan baroque repertoire. Sensual arias and virtuoso concertos by composers such as Alessandro Scarlatti, Francesco Mancini and Nicola Fiorenza are collaged into a sonic-narrative telling Naples' best stories from the baroque heyday of what was then Europe's third-largest metropolis. These include an encounter with the seductive siren Parthenope who, according to mythology, founded the city; a visit to Naples' multi-layered underworld with surprising twists and turns; and the exuberant atmosphere of typical Neapolitan street life, full of festivities and joie de vivre.

Together with the young and promising soprano Maria Ladurner and under the direction of the renowned recorder player Barbara Heindlmeier, who is known for innovative concepts, la festa musicale breaks new ground with this project. On occasion the movements of the concertos are broken up, weaving arias amongst them. This allows a new overarching plot line to be told, skilfully capturing the manifold facets of this fascinating city.

The North German baroque ensemble la festa musicale stands for excellent artistic standards, which are reflected in creative, cross-disciplinary concert formats and top-class co-operation projects. Alongside well-known works, Storie di Napoli also features rarely-heard discoveries and a premiere recording of the aria "Nel mio petto" (from Il ritorno d'Ulisse) by Giuseppe Porsile. The richness of colour, the emotional density and the fast-moving contrasts of this repertoire are reflected by the ensemble using variable instrumentation as well as - entirely in keeping with the baroque art of ornamentation and improvisation - adding their own contributions, such as in the lively Tarantella napoletana alla festa musicale.

... ist ein Barockensemble aus dem norddeutschen Raum. Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 2014 konnte sich das Kammerorchester in kurzer Zeit durch Spielfreude, Stilsicherheit und Virtuosität einen Namen machen. Charakteristisch ist die hohe Motivation sowie das erstklassige künstlerische Niveau aller Musikerinnen und Musiker: Sie sind charismatische Vertreter einer neuen Generation der historischen Aufführungspraxis. Die Konzertprogramme Bach|brandneu! und ITALIA! (hier stellen sich alle Orchestermitglieder solistisch vor) stehen beispielhaft für diese Qualität. Die künstlerische Leitung liegt bei der Konzertmeisterin des Ensembles, Anne Marie Harer.

la festa musicale ist offizieller Partner der UNESCO City of Music Hannover und Ensemble in Residence der Hannoveraner Markuskirche.

2016 debütierte la festa musicale beim Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden und bei den Musiktagen Salzgitter. Das Orchester gestaltete zudem das Abschlusskonzert der Chortage Hannover, in dem Händels Oratorium Solomon mit Andreas Scholl in der Titelpartie erklang. Mehrfach gastierte das Ensemble im Rahmen der Festwoche des Forum Agostino Steffani sowie bei den Niedersächsischen Musiktagen. 2018 gab es sein Debut beim Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival.

Konzerte von la festa musicale wurden unter anderem vom Deutschlandfunk und dem Norddeutschen Rundfunk mitgeschnitten, beim Label Rondeau Production erschienen gemeinsam mit dem Kammerchor Hannover zwei CDs mit Werken von J.S. Bach und S.-D. Sandström. 2018 folgte beim gleichen Label eine Einspielung von Chorwerken von Diogenio Bigaglia und Antonio Lotti, gesungen vom Knabenchor Hannover.

Das Ensemble konzertiert gemeinsam mit international renommierten Solisten wie Anna Dennis, Peter Kooij, Monika Mauch, Klaus Mertens, Alex Potter, Hélène Schmitt, Andreas Scholl und Zachary Wilder. Gemeinsame Projekte verbinden la festa musicale mit dem Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble, dem Knabenchor Hannover sowie Collegium Vocale und Kammerchor Hannover. Zudem arbeitet das Orchester mit Dirigenten wie Jörg Breiding, Lajos Rovatkay, Hermann Max und Jörg Straube zusammen.

la festa musicale gibt die dem Ensemble eigene Begeisterung für Alte Musik gern an ein vielfältiges und neugieriges Publikum weiter. Dabei gilt sein besonderes Interesse dem Gestalten eigener Programme und Aufführungsformate. Familien- und Kinderkonzerte wie „Locatelli oder die lauschende Lupe“, vom Ensemble moderierte Programme sowie Musikvermittlungsprojekte in Grundschulen und Flüchtlingsunterkünften führen Musizierende und Hörende zusammen: Hier wird geklatscht, gesungen und getanzt!
