Info for 10,000 Towns (10 Years Deluxe)
With "Drunk Last Night" their latest #1 hit, Eli Young Band is finally ready to announce their upcoming album with Republic Nashville, 10,000 Towns. The album will feature 11 tracks and over half of the tracks were co-written by the band.
“To still be making music and going through the craziness of life together is something we’d only dreamed of when we met back in college," says lead singer Mike Eli of the success they've already seen. "This album shows another chapter in our lives as a band, as husbands, as fathers and as individuals that we’re really excited to share with our amazing fans." (Mike Eli)
With "Drunk Last Night" Eli Young Band's latest chart-topping single (#3 overall), the quartet from Texas is finally able to announce their upcoming second album release for Republic Nashville. The band (who has previously released four albums, 2 indie albums and 2 major labels, including Life At Best with Republic Nashville in 2011) is ready to deliver the best album of their career. Life At Best brought the band of Jon Jones, Chris Thompson, Mike Eli and James Young to nationwide prominence with Multi-Platinum #1 hit "Crazy Girl" (also the most-played single of 2011) and Platinum #1 hit "Even If It Breaks Your Heart." Before these hits, the band's biggest hit was "Always The Love Songs" from 2009's Jet Black And Jealous.
"Drunk Last Night" has been certified Gold by the RIAA and is well on its way to being Platinum. The song was co-written by Josh Osborne and Laura Veltz. The album also features songs co-written by "Crazy Girl" co-writer Kyle Jacobs, Heather Morgan, David Lee Murphy, "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" co-writer Will Hoge, Dylan ALtman, Sean McConnell, Billy Montana, Jon Nite, Jon Randall, Craig Wiseman, Rodney Clawson, Jimmy Robbins and Chris Thompkins. Lee Brice ("Crazy Girl" writer) co-wirtes a track on the Walmart-exclusive version of the album.
The four college friends, who met at University of North Texas, have come a long way since first forming the band in 2000. After 14 years of hard work, Eli Young Band plays high-energy shows on large stages across the country for its quickly growing fan base of national — and international — enthusiasts. The Texas country rockers have won an Academy of Country Music Award for Song of the Year for “Crazy Girl,” and scored three No. 1 hits — including “Drunk Last Night,” the first single off the new record.
“After being out on the road and playing as many shows as we have, we’ve become better musicians, better songwriters and better entertainers,” Eli explains. And despite growing older, getting married, and starting families, the quartet’s roots haven’t changed: “We’re still these four young kids out on the road dreaming about playing shows.”
Playing an increasing number of live shows on the road — and enhancing the entertainment value of those performances — was a driving factor for the content of the new record. “It’s so important that these are the best shows we’ve ever played,” Eli says. “If the record was missing something, we were guided by what we need for the live show.” The result is the most up-tempo album of the band’s career. “It’s the best record we’ve ever made,” he says. “It’s the most fun record we’ve ever made, definitely.”
The band didn’t shy away from harnessing the talents of some of Music Row’s songwriting heavy-hitters for its latest release. Title track “10,000 Towns” (co-written by Craig Wiseman, one of Nashville’s most successful songwriters in recent years) captures the Eli Young Band’s experience of traveling around the country playing music.
Eli Young Band
Eli Young Band
has always been unique in modern Country music – a true band of brothers who play their own instruments, write their own songs and cling fast to their Texas roots. With LOVE TALKING out now via The Valory Music Co., they embrace what makes them different once and for all.
Overall, lead singer Mike Eli found himself writing more than 150 songs in the time since the GRAMMY-nominated band released THIS IS ELI YOUNG BAND: GREATEST HITS in 2019. On LOVE TALKING, he joins forces with Nashville stalwarts Jimmy Robbins, Laura Veltz, Josh Osborne, Jon Nite and more. Also finding a home on the album is the sentimental “Lucky For Me” and tongue-in-cheek “Break Up In A Bar.”
“We really wanted to find the positivity in what we got out of the last two years, so that was one of the main goals for this album,” notes Eli. “There was a lot of unknown that was written into some of the music we created during that time, but we all lived it so deeply; we wanted to offer something uplifting with our music.”
Eli founded the band with guitarist James Young, bassist Jon Jones and drummer Chris Thompson at the University of North Texas in 2000, steadily building a grassroots fanbase that propelled four No. 1 singles and gave the band an edgy, romantically-charged identity (4X PLATINUM “Crazy Girl,” 2X PLATINUM “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” and PLATINUM “Love Ain’t” and “Drunk Last Night “).
The trailblazing group has come a long way since with a dynamic career thus far producing Billboard's No. 1 Country Song of the Year and ACM Award for Song of the Year with “Crazy Girl,” plus racking up over 2 billion streams to earn Pandora Billionaire status. Multiple CMA, CMT, ACA and Teen Choice Award nominations along with over 3 billion streams of their career catalogue offer an undeniable of EYB’s unique connection with fans. Even through sonic evolutions and changes to the Country industry, their obsessive following has continued to grow.
What they’re good at has always been the same – organic, live-show focused Country dripping with authenticity and perfected in sold-out clubs, amphitheaters and stadiums coast-to-coast. Confident in their soulful, hearts-on-fire brand of Country, the title track of their forthcoming album is impacting Country radio and playlists now as they head out on a 51-city tour of the same name. EYB has also shared the stage with Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Chris Young, Darius Rucker and Dave Matthews Band, plus performed on national television shows such as TODAY, Conan, Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and FOX & Friends.
"We've passed the 20-year mark as a band. And there's something about that which makes you reflect on everything that we've already done. And now, it feels like we are entering a new chapter. This new music feels full of energy and full of life," Eli recently shared with People.com.
“We still look at each other as college buddies – not business partners,” says Young. “We get to share our lives with each other and we’ve done some really cool stuff, and our music has been the greatest byproduct of that.”
