Info for Niemals war die Nacht so klar
Advent and Christmas music for trombone choirs and brass ensembles, arranged for 4-7 parts.
"Lift up your heads, O ye gates" is the opening line of the new Christmas album released by Christian Sprenger and his brass ensemble Genesis Brass on the GENUIN label. And with that, the door is wide open for an hour of the most beautiful Advent and Christmas brass music, arranged and composed by Christian Sprenger and Anne Weckeßer. The program ranges from classics like "Daughter of Zion" and "My Heart Shall Leap for Joy" to poetic soundscapes such as a "Bohemian Winter's Tale." The ensemble, comprised of musicians from various Berlin orchestras, plays with drive, a rich sound, and great enthusiasm!

Christian Sprenger
"The moment music is created is unique and irreplaceable. Music plays with the transience of the moment and yet is simultaneously an expression of life." (Christian Sprenger 2016)
Christian Sprenger is Professor of Trombone at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar. He has also been a successful composer and publisher for many years. Just in time for the upcoming Christmas season, his new album, "Niemals war die Nacht so klar II" (The Night Was Never So Clear II), recorded with his brass ensemble genesis brass, will be released on August 24, 2018.
His appointment to the Weimar University of Music in 2010 followed many years as principal trombonist of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and his studies at the Freiburg University of Music.
In addition to his work as a teacher at the Weimar University of Music, he composes and arranges for a wide variety of ensembles. His work focuses on composing chorale preludes and fantasias for symphonic orchestra, wind ensemble, and symphonic wind orchestra. Christian Sprenger's musical roots lie in sacred wind music, and he remains closely connected to this genre through publications and workshops.
Numerous CD productions on the theme of chorale have already been recorded with the brass ensemble "genesis brass," the "Staatskapelle Weimar," and the "Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie."
genesis brass
was founded in 2003 and consists of nine musicians from various German orchestras. The ensemble consists of four trumpets/flugelhorns, four trombones, and tuba.
The artistic director and founder is Christian Sprenger, who also composes and arranges for the ensemble. This unique and ongoing collaboration between the ensemble and its director, Christian Sprenger, has resulted in a distinctive sound over the past few years, characterized by its individuality and authenticity.
The opportunity to play the pieces just heard in concert with one's own ensemble is a special appeal of Genesis Brass' programs.
