Biography Markus Brönnimann and friends

Markus Brönnimann
has been principal flute in the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg since 1998 and was born in Switzerland, where he studied with Günter Rumpel at the Zurich University of Music. Further studies led him to Michel Debost in the USA and to Renate Greiss-Armin in Karlsruhe, where he developed a particular passion for chamber music. He is a member of the Kammerata Luxembourg and the Ensemble Pyramide, whose activities include its own concert series in Zurich. As a chamber musician, he is a regular guest at festivals in Europe and overseas, performing at the Rheingau Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival as well as in China and at Cape Classics in South Africa. Markus Brönnimann endeavours to continually expand the repertoire of his instrument, both by performing valuable works that have fallen into oblivion and by collaborating with contemporary composers. His interest in music is not limited to the flute. In recent years, he has arranged more than 25 works for the Ensemble Pyramide. When he takes up the pen himself, he writes texts about music and, in recent years, increasingly also compositions.
