ADOY
A four-piece synth-pop band formed in Seoul, South Korea, in 2017. The members are Oh Juhwan (vocals/guitar), ZEE (synths), Jung Dayoung (bass), and Park Geunchang (drums).
They describe their own style as "Commercial Indie"—a fusion of the creative originality typical of the indie scene with pop-oriented songwriting, nostalgic melodies, and sophisticated synth textures.
Their 2017 debut EP, "CATNIP", reached the number-one spot on South Korean indie charts multiple times. The track "Grace" was nominated for "Best Modern Rock Song" at the 2018 Korean Music Awards (KMA), and their subsequent EP, *LOVE*, topped the electronic chart on Apple Music in South Korea. In 2019, they sold out a headlining show at the YES24 Live Hall in Seoul (capacity: 2,000), received a Jury’s Special Award at the 28th Seoul Music Awards, and have earned a total of three nominations at the Korean Music Awards.
The band has also established an international fan base by performing at major festivals across Asia—including in Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok, Singapore, and Taipei—as well as at global events such as SXSW (USA), SXSW Sydney (Australia), the Reeperbahn Festival (Germany), and the Mahorasop Festival (Thailand). Furthermore, they have collaborated with major global brands, including Levi’s, Fender, Jameson, and Samsung Galaxy.
In 2023, they released a remake EP titled *us*, which features contributions from international artists such as Sunset Rollercoaster (Taiwan) and Phum Viphurit (Thailand). Now in their ninth year, the band continues to evolve their signature sound while expanding their reach and gaining support across national borders.
