Biography Joe Colombo

Joe Colombo
A guitarist born and raised in Italian Switzerland, Joe Colombo debuts at the beginning of the new millennium with an explosive instrumental album under the Comet/Horizons label. “Natural Born Slider” establishes Joe as one of the best and most original slide blues guitarists thanks to his unique and personal style. In 2003 and 2004 he participated in the double Jimi Hendrix tribute release “Voodoo Crossing” and “Gypsy Blood”, together with international artists such as Robben Ford, Steve Lukather, Larry Coryell and Hiram Bullock. Joe spent long periods between 2004 and 2013 in the United States, touring alongside American singer Terry Evans (Ry Cooder, Eric Clapton). In more than twenty years of experience on national and international stages, he has played throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, including prestigious blues and jazz festivals.

At different stages of his career, Joe continued to work on his own music and over the years released a multitude of independent productions as well as notable collaborations, including Terry Evans’ “Fire in The Feeling” in 2005 and Italian rock star Eugenio Finardi’s double album “Sessanta” in 2012. In 2017, he relaunched the instrumental power-trio formula and released “StratoSlider”. An important album that marked a stylistic, artistic and personal turning point towards new musical horizons.

To follow this new vision, in the spring of 2022 he records and releases his first solo album, “New Horizons”. An album conceived during two years in which important social changes have disrupted the world and made the music industry fluctuate as never before. A solo album was a bold choice and a challenge that came naturally. Seven original guitar-only tracks recorded in two days completely live, with no overdubs or loop machines. The result is an extremely alive, authentic album, backed by a rich and powerful sound where blues roots and slide guitar once again dominate.
