Kare Nordstoga to Release New Album "Bach from St Ludgeri in Norden" A celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach's organ music, recorded on one of Europe's most magnificent historic instruments.
One of Norway's most revered organists, Kare Nordstoga, returns with a deeply expressive and masterfully performed new album: Bach from St Ludgeri in Norden. Set for release in spring 2025, this recording captures Nordstoga at the console of the renowned Arp Schnitger organin St Ludgeri Church, located in Norden, Germany.
With its resplendent sound and historical authenticity, the St Ludgeri organ--built by Schnitger in the late 17th century--is one of the most important surviving baroque organs in Europe. For Nordstoga, who was principal organist at Oslo Cathedral and widely celebrated for his interpretations of Bach, this recording represents a long-awaited meeting between performer, instrument, and repertoire.
The album features a curated selection of Bach's organ works, including both monumental preludes and fugues and more intimate chorale-based pieces. With his customary elegance and insight, Nordstoga brings clarity to the counterpoint and a poetic sense of phrasing, making this album an essential listening experience for lovers of baroque music and historical performance.
Bach from St Ludgeri in Nordennot only showcases Kare Nordstoga's artistry but also highlights the living legacy of one of the greatest organ builders in history--and the enduring power of Bach's music.
